"What's new with you?"
"Oh, not much."
I replied whole-heartedly, hardly thinking. He put his coffee mug down on the table and turned to look directly at me.
"Emmy. You have more going on than anyone I know."
I gave a quick and forced exhale. It could have been mistaken for a laugh.
